Allerno
Hi guys, just another quick question for you all. What type of car battery best suits the GT6 MK2?I have been searching through the internet for some answers and have come up with several different types of battery size to use, but none that have really stood out as being the one that the majority have used...So far I have seen 027, and 063 batteries come up a few times, and in the Haynes guide (the original one) it suggests using a battery with 56Ah (if that is relevant)Anyway I leave the suggestions to the professionals once more! Thanks again in advance for your answers!Allan
CHRIS211083
I think the best answer to this is get the biggest most powerful battery that will fit in the battery tray.Chris.
Velocita Rosso
A 62ah and 600 cranking amps turns a six over quite nicely54 ah is OK for the Spitfire
DaveKent
i've been using a unipart battery for ages now with no problems, holds up to the RBRR easily!unipart GBA3065EN 510A/hr 59R/C
Anthony
I fitted a Bosch Silver battery to one of my other carsI bought it from Halfords as they offer a 5 year warranty (as long as you keep the receipt)
CHRIS211083
Was just looking at Halfords and......Halfords Calcium Battery HCB072 Guarantee: 4 YearsStartup Power: 550 AmpsType: CalciumAH Value: 68Bench Charge: 6.8 AmpsDimensions (LxDxH): 261x175x220mmReserve capacity: 125Weight (kg): 16.69This is for the GT6, always look under rover for triumph parts in Halfords. Clive
Chris, autoexpress (or one of the similar named car mags) did some in-depth tsting of batteries. They found the non-calcium version actually had more oomph in it at low temp or something. Could be handy for you ;)Also, if you buy at halfords make sure you have access to a tradecard, I think it is about 30% off their own batteries. Otherwise plenty of other places sell exide, varta, bosch etc batteries.I have found the 063 to be a good value battery, worked absolutely fine on my 2.5 vitesse, all year round. Standard starter motor too.

Clive
Nope, a lot less % on non-halfords stuff. Saying that, their batteries used to be made by yuasa, jap so were good. Not sure now. However, their batteries have never been an issue for me. And I have fitted about a dozen over the years to various cars.
CHRIS211083
Will get the Halfords one for a GT6 then. That should be able to run injection shouldn't it?Ah 61Cold crank 600amps???Chris.
Clive
EFI shouldn't make a lot of difference at all. Its only a pump and ecu. Not huge current draw at all, especially compared to starter. Alternator may be an idea for when the heater/lights/heated seats etc are on :)

DaveKent
back to the same old discussion , but halfords (discounted or not) are just a rip off compared to a good motor factor!!!if you want to pay halfords prices then give your money to me and i'll wander down the local partco and make some beer money!!! ;D

ferny
Forgot to add, the Herald battery is 625 cca. I'll check the number later is anyone is interested.
James
I'd never go for anything other than Bosch after abusing two of them thoroughly — hold their charge forever.Totally drained them a few times (lights on) — left for 6 months and no issue at all. SpitNoir
Sounds like I made a lucky choice then. Bosch Group/Size 34 with 630 CCA.Been working like a champ even with all the sitting and cranking.Paul
bob dunn
how about a second battery in the passenger foot well wired in parallel to the main one this would aid cranking in very cold conditions .
CHRIS211083
Yes bob it will but make sure you dis connect it after as you alternator wont handle both.My current battery is a 32ah 230 cold crank. Suppose to be standard.Chris.
