  1. I think youu will need to raise it slightly. Quite a few people are running the 15inch MGF wheels, so they should be OK. I am sure they will pipe up in a moment. There of course may be variants that do not fit properly. Cheers Colin
  2. I suspect Steves bearings are the Tin/ally ones rather than the tri-metal. Crank is alledgedly still on STD's. Very careful measuring needed I think. Cheers Colin

Well it seems I broke the PI on Monday , I suspect the strain of hauling 3 fat blokes and a mountain of luggage down the LeMans and back again (but with added ill-gotten gains on the way back) was too much for it. Either a UJ or Driveshaft or teh diff. And itneeds a new coil, and a new steering rack. Best get me finger out! :-)

  8. I have done 3 ro 4 engines on one now. You need to get a sacrificial backplate if you want to do it properly or you can't get to the rear oild seal hpusing with it on the stand, cHEERS Colin

  11. You can tell the ratio by the colour paint daubed liberally on the input shaft nut. Pink is 3.27 I think, white is 3.63. Red is 3.89. Please take all these with a pinch of salt, I am trying to remember off the top of my head. But.... they used the same colour for different ratios in different cars I think. So a white on a small saloon diff is probably different to white on a big saloon. Cheers Colin

  13. Dave When you say free play, is that movement of the pedal that is making the slave move and pushing the arm to relaese the clutch, or is it "free movment" where nothing is happening. There are master cyl push rods about that are the wrong length, or it could be oval holes in top of pedal and in the pushrod. Wrong bore clutch or slave cyl is another option. Be wary of filing additional slots, certainly until all other optios are chacked, it might be perceived as a bodge to cover another issue. Cheers Colin

  19. Exhaust wise you have quite a few options. There are also the Phoenix systems, either a wheel-barrow jobbie, or a single offset tailpipe. There are Falcon systems, and the Bell systems, as sold by the TSSc and others. Phoenix and Bell also do a 6-3-1 manifold. I would skip the manifold initially and get it all running then upgrade. They change the characteristics of the engine, and none of the currently available ones are that good at present. This is a very contentious subject and you may wish to spend amny a happy hour browsing the thread archives on the subject. The Phoenix one seems to be the least compromised. Whatever you do, do NOT fit a Bell twin box to a GT6, YOU WILL GO DEAF! 2000 airbox for twin HS4 and twin CD150 is same as GT6. Twin HS6 on a 2500 uses a remote airbox and a pancake adaptor bolted to the carbs. Lots of piccys of GT6's and Mk4 spits with 15inch MGF wheels about, I'm sure someone will oblige. Cheers Colin
  20. Mr Chatterton is very close. I am starting to suspect they are (luckily) the only set in the country judging by a quick check of howmanyleft.co.uk Not sure if that is a :-) as they are the only set or a :-( as the model is now almost extinct.
  21. Oneof my customers offerred me some tyres to remove the tread from round the cones as they were just going old in his shed. If I could take them off teh rims. Picked them up Friday, and being inquisative got teh ruler out. Mmmm I thought, 2000 PCD, so i just had to try. Could do with 1/4 inch spacers (and longer studs) at the front. Not really sure....... 10 points if anyone can work out what they came off Cheers Colin
