Beans
I do have some mixed feelings about the engine, but that
Rumpith
Theo, by most people's standards that engine IS clean! I'd eat my dinner off it!
Beans
With the engine fitted last weekend, I had the opportunity to spent my time on all kinds of smaller jobs, like fitting the gear lever ...connecting various parts in the engine bay ...the exhaust manifold ...and the prop shaft ...A few small problems remain but all in all well pleased so far.The car should be ready for its MOT within the next one or two weeks. Thomas4
cool Where did you get that strut tower brace from? Does it make a big difference?
Beans
Came from Down Under, Australian firm called Whiteline. But they don't seem to stock them anymore.Greatly improves overall stability of the car, especially on bad road surfaces. Beans
Started to use them when the brand new hose I ordered from Rimmers (for 't Kreng in 1997) turned out to be of rather inferior quality. In that I am lucky, as we have a very good brake specialist nearby who can make braided hoses to (special) order. Beans
Rectified a few niggling problems over the past week, like new brake pipes for the rear axle, now with correct fittings. Also got the central dashboards vents positioned correctly at last. Then I managed to kill my old oil cooler so I had to order a new one ...And with that fitted ...I could at last put the air filters back on the carburettors.Only the smaller coolant hoses remain to be fitted, together with the exhaust clamps and the bonnet lock. After that filling her up with all the necessary fluids, bleed the clutch and brakes, check all systems, bond in a new wind screen, fit wipers and ... Beans
Carried out some system checks over the past few days.Encountered a few small problems;First were the brake lights which were on all the time, easily rectified.Other problem were the front lights. With the lights off the pods were raised, switching the lights on would lower them.Luckily very easy to rectify ...All other checks so far were positive (horns, interior lights, instrument panel, starter motor etc.)
chicken drumstick
Quoted from Beans Sure this has been asked before (and I might even have asked you on a different forum lol ) but where did you get the strut brace from? Thanks.

TRixie7
Beans, I notice you don't have the fresh air vent scoop attached. Are you going to put that in, or forego it? That bit was one of the few that my TR7 did not have when I bought it. I'm not sure if I want to spend the time/money finding a used one, or find an alternative, which is why I'm inquiring. Rust Restorer
In my experience fresh air scoop needs to be used, unless you like fumes. Robsport or S and S will have secondhand ones.
Beans
Haven't fitted the fresh air duct yet, but it is ready ...In the picture of the engine bay, I still had to fit the heater hoses (now fitted). Also still have to tune the engine a bit. When she's 100% (including MOT) I will fit it ... Rust Restorer
Beans, as ever, everything is so shiny!! I notice you have some rubber on the fresh air scoop where it fits the bulkhead, is this edge rubber, or a self adhesive foam rubber? cant quite make it out from the photo, good idea as I know mine rattles about.Ref the strut brace, I have a mate who made ten, one for his V8 and 9 to sell, they went quickly. I am trying to get him to make 10 more (minimum quantity for plating) and come up with a price. If he goes ahead I will post it up.
willows40
andyon my 7 there is a rubber moulding on the air scoop where it fits the bulkhead, i also think the other 7 i have here is the same.cheers
Beans
The original rubbers were well past their prime.I fitted a fairly stock slim U-profile rubber.Since I took that picture I adapted the rubber, cutting a few centimeters out at the centre to create a drain for any (rain)water
Beans
A day well spent today, after filling up all fluids it was time to start the engine 🙂Let it idle for some 20 minutes, nothing really wrong, only needs a bit of fine tuning. And last big job this evening was fitting the windscreen ...
