mikew
Quoted from Beans First test drive today and safe for these few tiny problems it was rather good fun.Mainly due to the glorious weather it was a rather enjoyable afternoon. And she looks absolutely gorgeous in the bright sunlight ...Only a few small problems remain. These will be sorted tomorrow afternoon ... I must say what a fabulous result, I bet you are so pleased, and having followed your blog I know what a thorough effort you put into all the parts that make up the car.Well done and enjoy the carmike

TRixie7
Incredible! Nice work. I love the choice of wheels. Those look sweet on the TR7.
Beans
Quoted from TRixie7 ... I love the choice of wheels. Those look sweet on the TR7. Sorry just removed them, as they are the spare set for my FHC Sprint ...Only used them for getting the suspensions alignement checked(they are damaged already and need to be refurbished sooner or later)Got the car MOT-ed today and alignment checked.so time for its intended wheels to be fitted ...Looks much more 70's, which I like very much. And gives much nicer handling compared to the 15" wheels. Not as sharp and precise as
nadg63
Superb effort Theo; tho preferred the look of the Revolution 5-spokes!
GTRoger
Well done Beans! Must admit it does look good (for a TR7 that is) although must agree with the above, it needs those Revolutions. So you kept my colleagues as well as my old man busy recently..... (whistle)
Beans
The Revolotions indeed look very good on the car,but being a touring car the 13" wheels suit it much better from a driving point of view. And they look much more 70's of course 😎Revo's will be the spare set for 't KrengQuoted from GTRoger ... So you kept my colleagues as well as my old man busy recently..... (whistle) Even got your boss at work for me 😀

Rust Restorer
Job well done Theo, I wish I had been more thorough when I did both my FHC and DHC. When we gonna see it in UK?
Beans
Quoted from Rust Restorer ... When we gonna see it in UK? Dunno, at the moment I am looking for a nice destination for her maiden trip in July or August.Thinking about a trip to the Alps or maybe the North of England/Scotland. Beans
Last Wednesday the car was valued by a sworn valuator, this being necessary to get the car insured properly.Right from the start my aim has been that the cost of the restoration shouldn
Thomas4
Hi Beansthe earth lead (engine to body) which is visible in the 2nd picture you posted May 23, 2010, 9:03pm, is it supposed to be there or is it custom? If it is custom, did you remove the small earth lead from the battery to the body? Where is it connected to the engine?Thomas
Beans
That strap indeed is a custum one.Another strap runs from the bellhousing to one of the early model's coil studs (situated against the bulkhead)Earth wire from battery is connected directly to engine, I dithched the original smaal earth wire between battery and body. Beans
Slowly but surely working through the list of remaining issues. This weekend I tackled the permanent low-coolant-warning-light. As expected I removed an unused connector from the wiring loom without reconnecting the wires. Sorted with a spade connector ...Also checked the underside of the car for loose nuts and bolts, found nothing worrying or unexplainable. And no visible leaks ... yet.Only a slightly weeping water pump, will probably stop after a few more miles. trekcarbonboy
Undercarriage pics are great. Like Mike said it shows how simple it really is. Fantastic work! Where are your springs from? They look like they have a progressive spring rate. I haven't seen that in any of the usual supply catologues. Have a great drive.
Beans
They are 200 lbs springs as supplied by Neil Revington (Yellow RTR3195)
Beans
More small jobs over the past week like fitting some protective sleeve over the starter motor wiring ...Adapting the connection to the oil catch tank to prevent the breather hose getting burned on the exhaust manifold ...And change the non-vented fuel filler cap into a vented one ...And of course I have been enjoying the car.I have covered some 700 kilometres since she came back on the road, and it has been good fun so far.Still no real problems, knock on wood ... Rumpith
Certainly better build quality than some of the Speke cars! lol
Beans
Thx 🙂 nearly finished now.Badges fitted and the original alloys, necessary as one of the banded steel wheels is leaking 🤔
Beans
Quoted Text Badges fitted and the original alloys And some picture proof ...Leaking wheel has been repaired too, turned out there were three leaks in the welding of the rim.List of things to do is getting rather short by now. Most importantly , with some 800 kilometres under the wheels so far,the knocking in the front suspension is getting less and less, I really have to provoke it now.Should soon be ready for its first Alpine trip in August []
