So in order to pass the C.T breakes, fuel and emissions, tires...

Starts and drives. Leather interior renewed.

Still issues with fuel pressure/pump, alternator since yesterday, breakes inoperant at the rear and maybe an air leak between downpipe and exhaust line.

I rebuilt them myself after having the bodies faced, cleaned and bushes/spindles fitted by carbex.

👍 Did you use any particular rebuild kit?  I'm looking to replace my original Waxstat fittings on my late Spitfire 1500

I used gaskets and parts I had in stock, cleaned lubricated and re-assembled the carbs (I had new jet bearing kits in a box from yonks ago) but ordered "JPR502 JET CONVERSION KIT (LATE TO EARLY)" from James Paddocks to get rid of the waxstats - can't say I was massively impressed with the kit quality, but it does the job and hasn't caused any issues so far (18 months since I fitted, but only 1 serious run in that time on the Border Raiders)

Decided to go and pump up the tyres on the 13/60 this morning as I haven't checked them for a while, the car hasn't been used either lately - just a drive to the local garage for some brake work, a drive home and a test run.

So, equipped with pump and pressure gauge, first wheel (front) : reading 2.5 bar. Odd that, I run them at 1.8bar front 2.0 rear. Other 3 wheels at the same 2.5 bar pressure.

Thinks N°1 :Maybe I had put the pressure up for winter, Can't remember doing it.

Thinks N°2 : Pressure gauge faulty? I know, check it against the pressures on the modern. They read as they should. Not pressure gauge then.

Thinks N°3: Maybe the mechanic checked them and thought they were a bit on the low side so pumped them up to 'normal' pressures. . .

Anyway instead of pumping them up I let them down.

Life has its ups and downs. 🙄

Could you have set the pressures when the weather was colder? Temperature makes a difference and is why some places offer to fill tyres with Nitrogen as this expands less with temperature changes (not just weather but also from tyre rotation)...

if it was cold enough to make that sort of difference I'd be doing indoor jobs not venturing outside 🥶. Anyway this is Normandy, the land of perpetual sunshine, raining only between 23h00 and 07h00 every third day. 😉

Fitted new rubber o rings to the oil pump on the TR7. The pressure relief valve i ring was solid no rubber texture at all. All cleaned and replaced, hopefully weeping stopped!

Fitted new mill board in boot too, it looks quite nice in there now

Took the Spitfire for a test run on Saturday morning just to make sure everything is good for the MOT this week. 2 faults - horn not working and wipers not working. Managed to fix both last night. Horn was easy - dead relay. Wipers not so easy as it turned out the flexible drive had parted company with the arm in the motor. Managed to bodge it back together, just hope it holds for the MOT and until I can do a proper fix. Fingers crossed for the test now.

I noticed fuel leaking from my rear carb on the Mk1 Estate a few days back, whipped them off today and replaced needle valves, gaskets & O rings, car seems a bit more responsive now, I did find some debris in one of the needle valves, overall much cleaner than I'd expected though. The car had definitely been running rich judging by the plugs, hoping to swap the head out next week, will set carbs up properly then.

I then replaced the indicator repeater bulbs with LED's, they were bright enough with standard but I'm swapping them all to LED so did the job whilst in there.

Last job for today was to strip the N/S/R door down, the door lock mechanism doesn't work very well and I wanted to replace it with a NOS unit. I was disappointed to discover that it appears that the door glass channel is blocking removal and, as I've found a hole in the door bottom and will look to replace the door, I decided against further dismantling for now. I cleaned up & lubed the door lock mechanism and reassembled, it's a bit better but not great, at least the door stays shut better than before.

Waiting for  the body and chassis to be acid dipped, galvanized and primed so I went to the workshop and stripped the other things that need sandblasting like the heater box and top/hoop frame.

I also found a specialist to mend my fiberglass hood/bonnet and get the documentation to make it road legal (German TÜV is a bit narky about that...)...

Slowly progressing..

Gave the rear bumper on the Spitfire a bit of a clean with Harpic Power Plus at the weekend, nasty stuff, but it takes some of the staining and mess out of the chrome without too much effort. Started making space in the garage to investigate why the Dolomite gearbox failed on the 10CR last year.

2000 Mk1 Estate - New cylinder head fitted today, along with a duplex timing chain conversion, I seem to have a few BHP back but need to sort out idling, throttle is sticking open

TR6 - sold today, will be with me for a few weeks before collection, looking forward to getting some space back

Yesterday I put Toby's gearbox cover back on and went for a test drive. Putting some oil in the gearbox has, indeed, fixed the overdrive. However, there is a distinct misfire once warmed up. It feels decidedly electrical rather than fuel. I wonder whether the cheap EI unit in the distributor I fitted just before the last RBRR is now failing.

Although people have different experiences, the cheap EI unit (powerspark) I fitted before the 2014 RBRR is still going strong (1xRBRR, 2x10CR and other mileage!), so I wouldn't immediately jump to that conclusion.
