This is Roxy, our last of three Miniature Schnauzers.

She's been in the wars over the last couple of weeks, first being diagnosed as diabetic and then she must have damaged an eye on a rose thorn or something similar and had to have the eye removed.

Still thinks she's a puppy and all squeaky toys are definitely hers!

Great wee black dug.

Jim.

Lazy Romanian rescue ones!

The one furthest is Juliet a 10 year old very nervous girl we've had for 6 years. She's lovely, scared of everything - especially fireworks - and is beautiful.

Closer is Trooper, a 15 year old battle scarred old bruiser. The shelter in Romania thought that he wouldn't survive another winter, and thought he deserved a family home for his last few months. Nearly 3 years later and he's still going strong!

Both are very affectionate, just in different ways, and are very much part of the family.

Sadly we had to have Trooper put down on Christmas Eve.

He had a tumour between his kidneys and liver that was pressing on the adrenal glands, also fluid build up in the pericardial sack surrounding his heart. Given that he was 15 any treatment would have only been buying time and we thought that it was the kindest thing to do.

The house seems much quieter without him (less hair though!) Juliet is missing him too. We'll probably get another rescue in time when we're ready.
