Jonny-Jimbo
Raider, I thought satnavs etc weren't meant to be used on RBRR?
Tim Bancroft
No probs. with Sat Navs on the RBRR- whatever gets you through the day/night, so to speak!Lots of crews use sat navs and camera detectors. Useful as back up to the fully detailed road book.Looking at the number of cameras present on the A68 (A1 just north of Scotch Corner to Edinburgh- a great road), its almost foolhardy not to use a detector-used by plod to raise revenue from the bikers who use that road. Raider
Tim provided postcodes for all of the stops last time precisely so that Tom Toms etc could be used.I didn't need the roadbook or the TOM TOM to find my way as it was my 4th run in 2006 It was very good tho for giving an ETA and warning of "safety cameras" as Tim said
Raider
Here's a video I ahve just "digitised" of the first RBRR I did - in 2000.http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=MdPj_y4ch5g
Raider
And now RBRR 2002.We used both of my cars - a Vitesse and the TR7. I spun the TR7 off the road at Oswestry, broke a valve spring on the Vitesse on Dartmoor and drove it back to the Plough on 5 cylinders before it came to a complete halt on the M1.You can see the TR pulling away to get to our hotel whilst I waited with the Vitesse for the recovery truck This was the weekend when I decided the TR7 really was "the shape of things to some" http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XtlAsoJredc
ferny
Sorry for the quality. The co-driver got thrown around a bit... I might have to sort out some way of mounting a camera. Mute it to get rid of Steve's commentary if you like. ferny
Yep. We followed him behind a saloon until the saloon pulled in and the Merc shot off. He kept riding on peoples arses but would never over take! Then he was behind that blue Spitfire for a while until I got fed up of his brakes lights always going on and blasted past both. Yours was the one with the waggin' blue tail? I was behind you for a while. If I knew it was you I'd have said hi. I followed you a lot over the weekend and overtook you a few times. Did you notice my white 13/60? On the way to Land Ends I was behind you again but my car was feeling a bit sick so couldn't keep up.

Rumpith
SatNav is useful when driving at night, even if you are not using it to navigate it gives you plenty of warning if there's a tight bend ahead, so no nasty hairpin surprises! Radders
Dave was filming over Dartmoor but I never realised at the time and after making derogatory comments about a knob in a four wheel drive , driving with mobile phone in one hand, camera in the other hand and getting pickle out of a jar for his sandwich with a certain part of his anatomy, we decided not to show it! 😀(But might if it meets demand !) JimEB
Hello! For those of you who don't know me, I was the tall, iPad-carrying, bespectacled bloke hanging around the Sixpenny Handley control. I turned up in my BMW (sorry, no Triumph yet - long story) just after the control opened and promptly turned around to park elsewhere in the village, given that it was a busy car park!Whilst I was there, I managed to take a bunch of video clips, just to give an impression of what it was like to see lots of Triumphs and tired crews, one of which is a short interview with Chatters and his beloved Acclaim:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7X4GSxDxdhsIf you search for "RBRR 2012 Sixpenny Handley" you'll find the rest of them, 13 in all, or if you're having trouble, I'll post the links later. Eagerbeaver
Did I dream it or did I do the RBRR this year? It's just that of all the video and photos I've seen, I can't see my car on any of them! What's more someone has driven around the country buying lots of petrol on my credit card. Can anyone confirm seeing a magenta TR6?
